Hi,

This is an original, hand written, Civil War era, letter written by William Schouler, the adjutant general of Massachusetts. It is dated April 19, 1864. The letter is addressed to the Chairman of the Selectmen of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. It is verifying enlistment of two individuals, Charles Boardman and William Parsons, and verifying that the credit for their enlistment was given to their town. This letter is written on official paper from the Adjutant General’s Office, with their letterhead.

This letter is in very good condition, for its age. It has a foam backer board, and is sealed in plastic.

Take a look at the pictures, and if you have any questions, please e-mail.

Thanks.
